It looks like they have created about a thousand driving directions to the central location from a LOT of places. I am not sure why the map markers are all different colors it might be a type of map marker.Β

Hey all, question about the consequences of changing a business name (official corporate name would remain the same, but use of a registered dba name).
If you change your business name and the URL of your website in Google My Business (GMB), do you lose all your accumulated reviews?
Also, any other pitfalls to a business name change generally, in terms of local SERP visibility?

Can't wait to hear the answer b/c I am about to change my biz name AND address and don't want to lose my 200+ reviews.Β

Iβve changed many of my GMB names many times before and the url and phone number and all photos.Β
Out of 15 only one got suspended but I corrected it and submitted the reinstate form and after few days I was back on track. All my reviews are still there.Β
Word of caution. Do not do multiple changes in short space of time. It will definitely trigger a suspension or worse.Β

Once you update the name and website URL, you will either need to reverify or get suspended. If you have to apply for reinstatement, you will need have you signage update if you are showing your address, your logo on your website and all of your online documents to reflect the DBA. If you are registering a DBA to add keywords and your geo-modifier and you are at a Virtual office, you run a higher risk of being suspended several times a year by Google sweeps.Β
You will not lose your reviews and will be able to keep them. The questions to consider is how will your rankings change with the name change, will have a positive impact or negative impact on the rankings?

How many primary categories is advisable to have on a single GMB listing?
And, on that same note, how about secondary categories?
Thanks in advance! π

The King of Local Search
Similar to keyword stuffing, more categories does not translate to more better rankings π
One primary per location, then say 3-5 secondary categories. We've seen listings with way more, but they're not getting way more results because of it.
If you have a business with multiple locations within a close geo, you can experiment with changing categories of each location to optimize for a broader set of searches if they offer multiple different categories of products/services.

Hello
I know this is a GMB Centric forum, but I thought maybe somebody would have some advice on this topic.Β
We have had some customers calling in on a wrong number (it still gets to us, but it is not part of our phone system, so we cannot forward to others etc).Β When asked where they got the phone number, the most common answer is by searching "opg iron mountain" on Bing.Β Who would have ever thought to check there right? But, sure enough, when I search that term on Bing I see the incorrect phone number there.
I have since claimed the business, made sure the profile has all of the correct information, suggested the edit on the Bing Places Profile, and scoured my website and Socials looking to see if that number is posted anywhere.
I remember seeing one message after an update I tried to do that said something to the effect of "the content will be published Jan 12."Β That was probably right at the beginning of the year, and it still has not changed.
Does anybody have any experience or suggestions for this issue?
Thanks

It's incorrect on several places. YP, MapQuest, YellowMoxie, Insider Pages. I would recommend getting a citation service, Yext, Whitespark, or Brightlocal to get the data corrected.Β
